The importance of holidays and travel is growing. Holidays mean switching off, relaxing and forgetting the worries of stressful everyday life. Having fun, discovering new things and thereby recharging your batteries.
But all this is only possible because of the people who work where others go on holiday: Contact persons on the phone and on site, marketing managers, accountants, personnel managers. All these professions and many more have to be covered. In the dual study programme in tourism management you will learn how each department of a tourism company contributes to the perfect holiday.
As a recognised university, the IU will provide you with the industry-specific theoretical knowledge that you can then use to get started in our company. Since this degree programme is a management programme, business studies will also be an integral part of the theoretical and practical phases. Business English will also be part of your curriculum at IU - because guests come from all over the world.
After you have studied and worked for seven semesters, you will graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree. After passing the exam, you will be a sought-after specialist in the constantly growing tourism industry. Your advantage over full-time students: In addition to theoretical knowledge, you will have gained practical experience over 3.5 years, which will make you attractive to employers. Because you are versatile, even at the upper management level.
What are your tasks during the practical phases?
- in the marina office you are the first contact person for our guests on site: you will advise them and check them in and you organise all the important tasks in the background so that the customer has a perfect stay
- in our reservations department you will advise interested parties, process and prepare offers, as well as bookings and berth contracts
- You are also jointly responsible for processing complaints and take care of our evaluation management.
- You will develop and implement marketing measures with us, maintain and edit our websites and represent the company at trade fairs.
- You will also work in our administrative departments, such as accounting and back office, and gain insight into controlling, account management and personnel.
- You will also work on our future projects (hotel, fun park, brewery, . . .).

What are our requirements for you?
- You have a vocational baccalaureate diploma or a-levels, or as an applicant without school-leaving qualifications: your master craftsman's diploma, a qualified vocational qualification with work experience or you are a state-certified technician or business economist.
- You are friendly and courteous and don't let yourself get ruffled
- You have no problem learning and working independently
- You speak fluent German and at best English
- You have a good command of MS-Office programmes
- You are willing to work weekends and holidays
How does the dual study program take place and when can I start?
The dual study program takes place as a split week and can begin at the start of any quarter (January, April, July, and October).
